To Knot or Not? With French Knots
I just love French knots but not all people do so keep in mind that I crossed stitched the whole design first and then I went over the areas I wanted raised with French knots (On top of my cross stitching) but you do not have to do this. You can just leave it cross stitched or maybe add some beads of your choice. Its all up to you.
Alternate to wool:
If you would like to find a beautiful over dyed floss in a beautiful fall color you can substitute for the wool. I outlined the area and just fill it in with you choice of floss. (You do not have to outline it that is just how I marked the area for you to fill in) I also left a vein down the middle so you can contrast with a darker shade of whatever floss you are using. And maybe you can still add some beads.
Also if you have your own collection of wool there are many more gorgeous over dyed wool fabrics out there. (Maybe in your own stash)!!
Be Creative and enjoy the process. Make the design your own add some other stitches maybe in the rock wall or add some tall straight stitches for tall grass in front of the rock wall. More beads are a nice touch.
I made this piece to fit perfectly in an 11 x 14 frame. I found a shadow box frame at Michaels and I plan on interchanging it with my design that I have coming out for winter. All white and cream colored flowers in a vase along with wool and various stitches.
